Egmond is situated very close to the motorway A9 between Amsterdam and the lovely city of Alkmaar, only 10 km away.

By Public Transportation
From the airport terminal, just follow the signs to the trains. Buy a ticket to Castricum at ticket machines at the railway station which accept your credit card. If you are not able to use the machines, please head to the ticket office and ask for the earliest train connection to Castricum. The following table with schedule guides you to Egmond step-by-step:

By Taxi
Official taxis are just outside the main terminal building. Follow the signs indicated on the floor (!). Always ask the driver first about the charge to the Stayokay Hostel at Egmond-Binnen. Expect a price around 150€ for a 4-person taxi. If you share a taxi, it will cost you around 37,50€ per person. (As mentioned, public transport will cost you around 13€ per person.)

Route
The conference location is fairly easy to find. There are motorways nearly all the way to the IMC 2016. Best is using your navigation system and set it to Stayokay, Herenweg 118, Egmond. Coming from the direction of Rotterdam, Den Haag, Utrecht, Amsterdam or Schiphol, take the A9 motorway in the direction of Alkmaar. Leave the motorway at Exit 10 towards Zaanstad/Uitgeest/Castricum. From Uitgeest, head towards Castricum. After having passed Castricum proceed through Bakkum to Egmond. Continue towards Egmond aan de Hoef. This road leads you to Egmond-Binnen. The hostel is on your right, next to the stables.
Carpooling
Sharing a car with others can help to reduce the number of cars and travelling costs and stimulates socializing as well. Therefore carpooling is encouraged by the LOC. For privacy reasons, information about the travel plans of participants will not be distributed publically. If you want to share a car with others, inform the LOC and they will bring you in contact with the right person.
Parking
You can park your car for free next to the hostel.
Emergency telephone number
In case of an emergency while traveling to Egmond on Thursday, June 2, you may contact the local organizers at +31-6-24 24 24 45. Please use this number in emergencies only, such as having missed the last train or accidentally having boarded the wrong train or bus. For general travel information, please refer to the information boots or ticket offices at the railway stations.
Commuting between the conference venue and nearby hotels
If you have chosen to stay in an accommodation other than the Stayokay Hostel , which is also the conference venue, then arranging transportation to commute between both is your responsibility. In total, about 30 participants chose external accommodation (4 of whom in the Strandhotel Golfzang and 4 at various locations in the Voorstraat).
If several of you are staying at the same or nearby locations, it is perhaps interesting to carpool. Perhaps one of you came by car, and you can share the ride, or you could consider sharing a taxi ride. We can recommend Taxi Alkmaar in this regard. They can be reached at +31-72-211 01 01 (landline phone) or +31-6-46 22 42 77 (mobile phone). Depending on the exact location, they can offer a ride from Egmond-aan-Zee to the Stayokay Hostel for 10€ to 15€, for example.

Shuttle services at the end of the IMC 2016
Two shuttle services will be provided at the end of the IMC 2016, in the early afternoon on Sunday, June 5: a free one for the IMC participants that wish to continue to the Meteoroids conference, and a paying one to the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport.
Meteoroids shuttle
Participants who indicated this on their registration form (or when revising their registration data at some later time) may use the free shuttle service that will take IMC participants to Noordwijk, where the Meteoroids conference is taking place. Details will be given at some time during the IMC 2016 conference.
Schiphol shuttle
Since enough participants expressed interest in the proposed shuttle service to the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport on Sunday, June 5, we decided to organize this. The shuttle bus will leave the Stayokay Hostel in Egmond at 14.30, and is expected to arrive at the Amsterdam Schiphol Airport around 15.30. The fee for the bus ride is 10€. Please pay the exact fee in cash at the departure of the bus, as we will not have enough change from 20 and 50€ bills for everyone!
